FINDING THE RIGHT CONTACT LENS FOR YOU

Presbyopia, astigmatism, myopia, hyperopia? These are medical terms for certain eye problems that may be helped by contact lenses. After a thorough exam, our optometristsmay recommend a specific type of contact lens designed to help improve your particular condition.

Soft Contact Lenses

Soft contact lenses are made from flexible plastic that allows oxygen to pass through to the eye. Daily wear lenses are designed to be removed and cleaned each day. Daily wear disposable lenses are removed before sleeping, cleaned, disinfected and replaced every two to four weeks. Daily disposable soft lenses are removed before sleeping, discarded, and replaced with a new set of lenses the next day.

Extended wear lenses can sometimes be worn up to a month without removal. Extended wear disposable lenses are usually discarded, and replaced after one week to one month depending on the type. Planned replacement lenses, also known as frequent replacement lenses, are discarded and replaced on an arranged schedule, usually every month, quarterly or semiannually. Planned replacement lenses are available for either daily or extended wear.

Rigid Gas Permeable Contact Lenses

Rigid Gas Permeable lenses (RGPs) are made of special, firmer plastics that allow oxygen to pass through to the eye. RGPs come in daily and extended wear varieties and may be suited for people with astigmatism.
